EDM Filters for Erosion Processes

EDM filters are widely used in the operation of copying broaching and EDM machines. For this reason, the quality of filters for air filtration systems must be perfect in order to ensure maximum cleaning of dielectric fluids in the operating mechanism of the machine.

The synthetic medium realises a very high separation efficiency of ultra-fine particles and thus effectively prevents secondary erosion. A filter fineness of 1-2 μm maintains stable conductance values, ensures a reliable process and keeps the dielectric fluid clean right from the start.

The principle of erosing machine filtration

A spark erosing machine is a machine tool used to shape electrically conductive workpieces by removing small particles. An electrically charged electrode is placed in a dielectric (non-conductive) fluid along with the workpiece.

When an electric voltage is applied between the workpiece and the electrode, a spark is generated which removes a particle from the workpiece. If the fluid contains a large amount of particles, however, there is a risk that the spark will be diverted and the wrong part removed.

It is therefore essential that the fluid does not contain any impurities, which is where our EDM filters come in. They are there to remove any eroded particles from the liquid.

Low quality filters or defects in products may be costly. These disadvantages can be determined on such grounds:

•  accuracy and low quality of the treated surface of the article;
•  drain holes are beginning to block;
•  increased resin consumption;
•  precipitate in the cooler, and the delivery system;
•  there are corrosive deposits.

As a result of these events dramatically increase maintenance costs and wire EDM machine is subjected to heavy wear.
